Terms and Conditions –The Times Good Walks Club

1. Places are offered on a first come first served basis via the website.

2. Unless otherwise specified walks are open to all readers of The Times, published by Times Newspapers Limited (“TNL”), and children aged 12 or over. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Dogs or other animals are not permitted on any walk unless agreed in advance with The Times and acceptance is at the sole discretion of The Times and the walk leader.

3. Unless otherwise stated, tickets cost £10, or £5 if applicant is a subscriber. Payment will be taken once places are confirmed and bookings are closed.

4. Applications for a walk are limited to one per person. A person may register for up to four (4) places on the walk only. A maximum of 24 places are available for the walk. Places will be allocated on a first come first served basis only. Readers will be advised by email immediately if they have been successful. Once the walk is full, this will be advertised but readers may request a place on the reserve list.

5. An eligible application must be made by an individual who must submit an application in the form provided by TNL under this promotion including their name, address and e-mail address.

6. By applying a place on a walk, all eligible readers are deemed to have accepted and agreed to abide by each and all these terms and conditions. TNL reserves the right, with or without cause, to exclude readers from any walk for violating any of these terms and conditions. TNL reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions. Any amendments will be published on the Website.

7. Successful readers are responsible for ensuring they and their guests (where applicable) are able to attend the walk as set out and in accordance with these terms and conditions, in the event they are unable to do so then TNL reserves the right to select another reader(s) to attend the walk.

8. Successful readers will be sent an information pack which will include details on the location of the walk, start time and contact details for the walk leader.

9. Readers must ensure they arrive within 15 minutes of the start of the walk, if readers are late the walk leader(s) will not wait and the walk will start at the appointed time. In the event a reader is late or does not attend/cancels a walk for any reason no refund will be payable.

10. Tickets permit attendance on the walk only. Readers are responsible for all other costs and expenses including transport to and from the notified meeting point, refreshments and all other costs and expenses associated with the walk.

11. TNL reserves the right at all times to cancel a walk if, in its sole opinion, the weather or general conditions would affect the safety of our readers in this situation Payment will be refunded in this situation
 
12. TNL reserves the right to refuse to take a reader if, in its sole opinion, it feels that he/she is either inadequately equipped or he/she would not be able to complete the walk due to an inadequate level of fitness or any other reason.   Readers are responsible for ensuring they have an adequate level of fitness for the walk as described and are equipped with suitable clothing, footwear and food and drink for the duration of the walk. Payment will be refunded in this situation.

13. Whilst care has been taken to organise the walks there may be circumstances beyond TNL’s control that may lead to the cancellation of the walk, such circumstances will include insufficient numbers.   In this situation, TNL will make every effort to contact readers with as much notice as possible. TNL will endeavour to send out an email the day before to confirm that the walk will be taking place. TNL reserves the right at any time to modify, postpone or cancel a walk in its sole discretion in the event that any walk is not able to be conducted as specified or if circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable. Payment will be refunded in this situation.

14. Descriptions of walks are accurate at the time of printing. However, terrain and paths may be subject to change at short notice.

15. The reader and their guests will be required to submit proof of admission to the walk prior to commencement. Details of what proof will be required will be set out in the information pack or provided to the reader in advance of the schedule walk date.

16. Other than death or personal injury arising from the acts or omissions of TNL, or their employees, TNL will not be liable for any loss or damage arising to the reader or their guests or their enjoyment of the walk.

17. Uses of personal data received by TNL in the course of the promotion are subject to the privacy policy found on the Website.

18. TNL will not be liable for technical, hardware, or software failures of any kind or lost or unavailable network connections which may limit or prohibit an eligible reader’s ability to register for the walk. In the event of a dispute over selection of readers for the walk the Editor’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
